I haven’t had a good Al Gore rant in a while, so here goes …
I am so tired of this sanctimonious, unabashed liar traveling around the world in his private jets and limousine while cackling on like Chicken Little about how carbon dioxide emissions by humans (particulary, American capitalist humans) are destroying the planet.
I am so tired of this huckster getting away with saying that the science is settled when his own crack squad of “scientists” continually have their research deemed highly questionable, data found manipulated and suppressed, and basic procedures exposed as scientifically flawed.
I am so tired of this bully saying that deniers are in the vast minority and are dismissable flat-earth crackpots when he and his accomplices at the IPCC, NASA, the CRU at East Anglia, and the media has managed to ignore and suppress the thousands of the world’s most prominent climate scientists who insist in no uncertain terms that his catastrophic man-made global warming theory is a load of crap.
I am so tired of this fool getting rewarded with undeserved accolades, such as an Oscar for a documentary that is a demonstrable lie from beginning to end, and a Nobel Peace Prize for leading an energy-reducing campaign that actually keeps a great portion of the electricity-less Third World destitute, disease-ridden, and war-torn.
I am so tired of this fraud getting his film played in schools throughout the Western world where young skulls full of mush are indoctrinated to unquestionably accept his garbage.
I am so tired of this snake-oil salesmen accusing deniers of being in the pay of Big Oil when he himself stands to make an upwards of one billion dollars in the corrupt “carbon credits” game.
I am so tired of how this pompous ass gets invited on TV over and over again to push every new book he writes and is barely challenged on any of his assertions.
* * * * *
Why did I feel compelled to make this rant now? Well, look what’s happened over the past month or so: We had an international conference where the world’s socialists, statists, thug dictators, and other malcontents all gathered to accomplish two things: (1) Bash the United States and capitalism for its supposed contribution to destroying the planet, and (2) Punish the United States for said infactions and enrich their own interests through forced global wealth distribution. To add insult to injury, our own president—a socialist, statist, lover/enabler of thug dictators, and malcontent in his own right—legitimized the meeting by echoing America-bashing and approving the wealth distribution scheme.
This all happened just after hundreds of emails were discovered revealing that scientists of the CRU at the University of East Anglia—essential the prime source of global warming climate change research—were involved in a decades-long attempt to manipulate and delete scientific data in order to promote their agenda.
This revelation should have been treated by the people of the world, their political representatives, and the mainstream media, as Watergate times a thousand. Instead, unlike the latest extramarital affairs of obscure Republican Congressmen or the latest statement made by Levi Johnston to publically embarrass Sarah Palin, the story of the century wasn’t even a blip on the radar screen of our hopelessly leftist American media. When they could absolutely not ignore the scandal any longer (as with John Edwards’ extramarital affair and the appalling predilections of any one of President Hope&Change’s czars), they did so with an dismissive air of disrespect and skepticism.
Consider the Goracle’s appearance on CNN on the morning of December 9, which was during the Copenhagen Trash-America-and-Capitalism Convention.
The interviewers, asking him about the ClimateGate revelation, let this weasel completely dismiss the emails.
They [i.e., the evil climate deniers] took a few phrases out of context. …
First of all, how do you take out of context statements about using tricks to hide climate declines and promises to delete inconvenient data while acknowledging the illegality to do so under Britain’s freedom of information regulations?
Second of all, go to ClimateGate.org and you personally have access to—and are even invited to contribute commenting and indexing assistance on—the 1,073 pieces of email and 3,485 pieces of text files, Excel spread sheets, and other documents. “A few phrases out of context” my ass.
These are private emails more than ten years old …
Oh yeah, you filthy liar? Not even the interviewer let him get away with that lie, noting that some of the emails were barely a month old.
Besides, to my knowledge there’s no statute of limitations on scientific fraud. If there are emails that are more than ten years-old, that doesn’t help Gore’s defense; it hurts it. Because what it means is that the man-made global warming climate change fraud has been going on for a long damn time.
Is there any substantive reason to worry about them? No. Does the noise machine of the climate deniers blow them out of proportion and fool some people into thinking they have substance, well that’s another matter.
Oh, I see: Climate deniers don’t have legitimate science to back themselves up, they just have a “noise machine.” But Al Gore and his accomplices from Hollywood to the media, the public schools, Copenhagen, and everywhere in between: That’s not a noise machine. The AGW-denying community don’t inform and educate people, they fool them. But Al Gore and Michael “Dude, where’s my hockey stick” Mann: They’re not fooling anyone. Get it?
Too bad for Richard Nixon he was president before Al Gore’s man-made global warming climate change hoax. If Nixon used the ClimateGate defense. he never would have faced threat of impeachment: Just deny that his involvement in the Watergate break-in was insignificant and his opponents are just trying to blow it out of proportion to try to fool the people.
Then Gore puts the fallacious icing on the cake:
… Over time the scientific process whereby all these scientists pick over every detail openly and fully, that process works and that’s the process they followed.
This is such a carefully crafted statement that I wouldn’t be surprised if ambulance-chaser-extraordinaire John Edwards didn’t help Gore write it. What difference does it make if the scientists “picked over every detail openly and fully”? It’s what they did with those details that was criminal: they admitted to manipulating some of the data for their convenience, and deleted the rest. In terms of the process “working,” as Gore described, oh it worked all right. It worked in the sense that it helped furthered his agenda, but it didn’t work for the integrity of science!
And how do this curious, inquisitive, challenging CNN interviewers follow up to Gore’s arrogant and dismissive statement? By moving on to another question! Namely, how he feels that polls indicate fewer people believe his bullsh*t story than they did one year prior.
The Goracle responds by pointing out all the data that’s supposedly out there for everyone to see and that’s the direct result of evil human emission activity:
The North Polar ice caps are melting before our very eyes! [Wrong] It’s been the size of the continental United States for the past 3 million years and now suddenly 40% of it is gone and the rest of it is expected to disappear within five, ten, fifteen years. [Wrong] The mountain glaciers all over the world are melting, many of them at a greatly accelerated, threatening drinking water supplies. [Wrong] We’ve had these record storms [Wrong], record droughts [Wrong], floods [Wrong], giant fires [Wrong], unprecedented all over the world. [Wrong] The evergreen trees of the American West are dying by the millions because the warming trend is making them vulnerable to pests that they can resist in the colder whether in which they evolved. [Wrong] ... Sea levels are rising. [Wrong] These changes are now beginning to unfold right in front of our eyes. [Wrong] And the fact that they’re distributed globally [Wrong] …
And these starry-eyed CNN reporters just let him babble on with that litany of unsubstantiated and unchallenged garbage. Why didn’t they have John Coleman on to discuss ClimateGate and Gore’s lawyer-esque weaseling out of addressing it? Who’s John Coleman, you ask? Oh, he’s only the founder of the Weather Channel and a TV meteologist for over half a century. And he thinks Al Gore and his man-made global warming climate change theory is bunk. Here he is, courtesy of KUSI in San Diego, with an eight-minute tutorial from December 3, 2009 exposing the criminally dishonest scientists at the CRU:
But Al Gore’s day on the small screen wasn’t over. On the evening of December 9, he was on MSNBC with the always impartial and objective Andrea Mitchell. Wow, a new book and two major interviews in one day. Only a New York Times best-selling author like Mark Levin would know how that feels. Oh, wait a minute. Mark Levin’s a conservative, so he never got his interview on CNN or a date with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC. (Nope, no liberal media bias here!)
In his interview with Mitchell, Gore pretty much repeated everything he said on CNN in the morning, again mostly unchallenged and unquestioned. He even got a bonus on MSNBC, where Mitchell let him take a few jabs at Sarah Palin. (Nope, no liberal media bias here!)

The plot (and ice sheet) thickens: Al Does Copenhagen
Now fast forward a few days to December 14, when the Goracle spoke at Copenhagen, where he said that the Arctic polar ice cap may be ice-free within 5-7 years:
These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr. [Wieslaw] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.
This frightening prediction created a media hoopla from both sides: Some climate scientists who believed in AGW said Gore exaggerated and that it was closer to anywhere up to 30 years (Did someone say something about blowing things out of proportion?). The rightosphere like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh simply didn’t believe him and relied on their own science people to call Gore out.
But there’s someone else whose feathers Gore rustled by making this statement at Copenhagen: Dr. Wieslaw Maslowski himself! As the U.K. Times writes on December 15:
However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.
“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”
Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.
The embarrassing error cast another shadow over the conference after the controversy over the hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which appeared to suggest that scientists had manipulated data to strengthen their argument that human activities were causing global warming. …
Perhaps Mr Gore had felt the need to gild the lily to buttress resolve. But his speech was roundly criticised by members of the climate science community. “This is an exaggeration that opens the science up to criticism from sceptics,” Professor Jim Overland, a leading oceanographer at the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said.
“You really don’t need to exaggerate the changes in the Arctic.”
Others said that, even if quoted correctly, Dr Maslowski’s six-year projection for near-ice-free conditions is at the extreme end of the scale. Most climate scientists agree that a 20 to 30-year timescale is more likely for the near-disappearance of sea ice.
“Maslowski’s work is very well respected, but he’s a bit out on a limb,” said Professor Peter Wadhams, a specialist in ocean physics at the University of Cambridge.
Dr Maslowki, who works at the US Naval Postgraduate School in California, said that his latest results give a six-year projection for the melting of 80 per cent of the ice, but he said he expects some ice to remain beyond 2020.
He added: “I was very explicit that we were talking about near-ice-free conditions and not completely ice-free conditions in the northern ocean. I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this,” he said. “It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at, based on the information I provided to Al Gore’s office.”
Richard Lindzen, a climate scientist at the Massachusets Institute of Technology who does not believe that global warming is largely caused by man, said: “He’s just extrapolated from 2007, when there was a big retreat, and got zero.”
But Lindzen must be one of those flat-earth crackpots in the pay of Big Oil, right, Al?
Interestingly, this is not the first time Gore quoted—or more accurately, misquoted Dr. Maslowski. On December 15 El Rushbo played this clip of him speaking 11 months earlier, in January:
Professor Wieslav Maslowski at the Naval postgraduate school in Monterey has calculated that there is an 80% chance that the entire north polar ice cap will be completely and totally gone in summer months in less than five years.
So Gore’s has been misquoting and exaggerating a scientest’s data for (at least) 11 months. But notice that this statement are different from the one in December in two significant ways: In January, he said there’s an 80% chance the ice cap would be ice-free in less than five years. Then, 11 months later in Copenhagen, he said there’s a 75% chance the ice cap would be ice-free in 5-7 years. So what happened between January and December, 2009. Did his data change? Or does he just come up with these ridiculous figures out of his fat arse right there on the spot? If the science is sooo settled and if the debate is sooo over, why these inconsistencies in Gore’s own statements?
Apparently Gore’s peeps were so inundated with calls that they had to issue this statement which AP reported on December 16:
Clarification: Gore misspoke on polar ice data
COPENHAGEN — In an early version of a Dec. 14 story, Al Gore told the U.N. climate conference that new data suggested the Arctic polar ice cap may disappear in the summertime within five to seven years. Gore's office later clarified his statement and said he meant the cap would be nearly ice-free.
Well, that certainly clears things up. But, I wouldn’t classify this as “back-pedaling,” would you? Other than that, everything else that Al Gore said was 100% accurate and uncontroversial!
Gore didn’t misspeak when he didn’t say “nearly ice-free.” In January he said unequivocally “completely and totally.” Al Gore never meant to say “nearly” in his Copenhagen speech. He simply thought he could get away with a hysterical exaggerated lie because he was among “friends,” but his friends, to their minor credit, actually raised their eyebrows and called him on his exaggeration. That apparently did not happen to Gore 11 months prior.
Shame on AP for not mentioning this January speech. Why does it take such a supposedly dangerous character like Rush Limbaugh to report that such a speech existed? And why does it take the U.K. Times to report on Dr. Maslowski refutation was the catalyst for Gore’s “clarification” to begin with? A couple months ago AP needed 11 “journalists” to report six factual errors in Sarah Palin’s memoir but they couldn’t find anyone to do a Lexis Nexis search on Al Gore and Melting Polar Ice Caps?
But let’s leave poor Al Gore alone for now. There’s a bigger fish to fry. Because even after the world was informed of ClimateGate, …
even after Gore was exposed as a liar at Copenhagen by the very scientist whose work he cited, …
and even after the entire Copenhagen conference was exposed as simply a forum for Marxist-socialist dictators like Hugo Chavez and Robert Mugabe to spew anti-capitalist and anti-American rhetoric before wildly cheering audiences,
… there was our president, Barack Hussein Obama, legitimizing the whole crooked outfit.
We come together here in Copenhagen because climate change poses a grave and growing danger to our people. You would not be here unless you—like me—were convinced that this danger is real. This is not fiction, this is science.
We are truly entering a new Dark Ages. A Marxist-Socialist Dark Ages.
God help us all.
