Folks, it's two days after the April 15 Tea Parties and the local page of NBC News Washington on-line still has this video of a Tea Party protest that took place across the street from the White House (mockingly entitled "Scenes from the Most Important Protest in Political History"):
This is a fake, people. It's staged. These are not Tea Party protesters. It's a left-wing group called either The Billionaire Boys or Billionaires for Bush.
What initially made me suspicious of the video was the ridiculous chants they were shouting, such like "Tax work, not wealth!" and "Lower the minimum wage!" I had just returned from a Tea Party in NJ and no one was shouting these ridiculous chants. (See my two previous posts with full details here and here)
The National Center for Public Policy, run by Amy Ridenour, has still photos of the actual Tea Party. Both events took place across the street from the White House, but only footage of the fake party made NBC's web page. After I asked Amy to do some digging, she found out the participants of the fake party was this Billionaire group.
Sure enough, some time yesterday another video up was put up on YouTube featuring the Billionaire Boys shouting "Tax work, not wealth!" and "Lower the minimum wage!" across from the White House.
You've been busted, NBC News.
I was hoping NewsBusters or HotAir picked this tip up. They haven't yet, but I understand they must be really busy right now cleaning up the mess the rest of the mainstream media made with the humiliating coverage of the nation's Tea Parties. [UPDATE: Both NewsBusters and NCPP blog have it now. Thanks, guys!]
It's been two days, NBC. So, are ya gonna take your fake, staged Tea Party video off anytime soon?
Shame on you.
