Why I Left Liberalism #4 - Upside-Down Moral Compass: Defending Roman Polanski Rape

Ya gotta hand it to the Left. After 40 years of all-sex-is-rape, all-men-suck feminism, we now know when drugging a 13-year-old girl and sodomizing her in a hot tub against her will is A-OK: When the rapist is a Hollywood bigwig.

Which leads John at Verum Serum to ask a provacative question: What if Roman Polanski had drugged and sodomized Khalid Sheikh Mohammed?

The far left seems to have a lot more sympathy for the convicted rapist than it does for the actual victim. This is the same crowd that believed Bush should be prosecuted for war crimes and members of the DOJ prosecuted for allowing the “torture” of Kahlid Mohammed. In that case it was the person committing the act that was wrong. Even if Mohammed confessed to being the mastermind of 9/11, he still had rights!

Not so much with Samantha Geimer, the 13 year old rape victim (now in her mid-40s).

If, somewhere in an alternate universe we could mash these stories together, I wonder who the left would root for? Certainly the interrogation of Khalid Mohammed never went as far as drugs and forcible sodomy. You can imagine what would’ve been said if it had. So what would they have said if Polanski had been the interrogator? Which is the immovable object and which the unstoppable force? [...]

Yeah, I can just see Whoopi Goldberg defending Bush, Cheney, and the CIA interrogators now: Hey, come on. It wasn't torture torture!

First he rapes a child who he had first drugged...then he takes a powder when it looks like he might do some serious time for it...now a fat list of celebrities want him released...only in Hollywood is cowardice considered a virtue.

I think that Khalid would get more sympathy and here is why: If Polanski sodomized him, then at best he could be put in the special liberal classes of "Hollywood" and "homosexual". However, the special class of "Muslims" intends to kill all homosexuals and they are still defended by the left. So obviously the "Muslim" card would trump any card Polanski could play.
