Newsweek has evidently followed the path of intellectual titans like NY Times’ Maureen Dowd and played the race card against Obama critics. Some noname by the name of Raina Kelley, in an article inartfully titled “Play the Race Card,” writes [h/t Noel Sheppard at NewsBusters]:
Let me say this clearly so there are no misunderstandings: some of the protests against President Obama are howls of rage at the fact that we have an African-American head of state. I’m sick of all the code words used when this subject comes up, so be assured that I am saying exactly what I mean.
Ms. Whoeveryouare: Let me say this clearly so there are no misunderstandings: You are a mental midget. Your depth of thinking and reasoned analysis is so shallow that an ant can’t even drown in it. Your educational and professional background is of no consequence. You’re a mindless liberal robot who lives in a liberal bubble. You have been successfully programmed not to use an ounce of intellect to debate an issue, but simply to shout names like “racist” at your ideological opponents. Sorry, toots. That might work at your pathetic excuse for a magazine, but not in the real world where real ideas translate to real actions and result in real consequences.
You are a disgrace, and the magazine that hired you (no doubt to fill some affirmative action spot) is an even bigger disgrace. But keep writing. You are no doubt a hero on the left for writing something so baseless and unsubstantive.
So be assured that I am saying exactly what I mean.
