Gateway Pundit has a collection of videos of the troops in Iraq greeting George W. Bush like a rock star. And why not? Bush believed in the troops, Bush funded the troops, Bush visited injured soldiers and the families of fallen soldiers.
President Golden Calf’s first visit to the troops as their commander in chief was … well, let’s say less well-received than has last appearance on Oprah.
Naturally. While in the Senate Obama crapped on the troops. He revealed his completely backward moral compass by declaring that genocide was not a valid reason to deploy U.S. troops. And he also exposed his ideology-induced aversion to reality not only by voting against the surge (which worked), but also by admitting that, given the chance, he would have voted against it again.
I don’t know about you, but if I were a soldier in Iraq, it would have been very hard for me not to have spit on the guy.
How’s that for vitriol?
But it’s not only the troops that have lukewarm feelings towards President Golden Calf. Yesterday Evil Conservative was among about 200 in Manhattan—of all places!—to rally against Obamunism.
I’ll admit, 200ish people attending a protest in a city of 8 million is not something to write home about, but it was nevertheless heartwarming to know that socialism was being rallied against in the belly of the beast.
The local ABC News site? No story.
The local NBC News site? No story.
The local CBS News site? No story.
All you need is 10 people to protest Bush or the Iraq War and you’ll have every news crew show up.
Pathetic. The local radio news station 1010 WINS was among a paltry few news sources that did report the event. They interviewed a protestor, an immigrant from Russia, who said he fled the Soviet Union many years ago and was now afraid that Obama was taking United States down that same path. This is reminiscent of my own Russian immigrant friends who said something similar in January.
Another source, to its credit, was The Village Voice.
Jeff Smith, a NJ-based photographer (according to his phone #) posted an impressive collection of shots from the event.
