Liberal Media Bias: Couric, Gibson and Williams Follow Obama on Tour
If you don’t think the big three network news channels haven’t picked sides in this presidential election, think again.
Like giddy schoolgirls stalking their favorite pop idol, there go Katie, Charlie, and Brian to follow Barack Obama on tour in Europe and elsewhere.
By stark contrast, when John McCain went to Central and South America at the beginning of the month, most of the media treated it like the footnote of a footnote. One of the very few exceptions was ABC. NewsBusters contributor Scott Whitlock wrote on July 2:
Good Morning America” on Wednesday attempted to guilt trip John McCain for taking a foreign trip while “Americans wrestle with a tough economy.” Five times over the course of two segments, various GMA hosts, reporters and analysts insinuated that McCain’s trip to Colombia and Mexico might result in voters thinking he doesn’t care about the economic situation of Americans.
Correspondent Bianna Golodryga pointedly wondered, “But at a time when polls show Obama ahead of McCain by 16 points on the economy, should McCain be staying closer to home?“ GMA co-host Robin Roberts, in an interview with Senator McCain, questioned, “So, why is Senator McCain abroad when Americans are focused on the economy here at home and losing jobs, more and more jobs, as Bianna just reported?“ The candidate replied by mentioning the fight against the Colombian drug trade as one reason for his South American trip. Undeterred, Roberts continued her theme. She repeated, “We’ve seen that over and over again, so many want to know, other than what you just said, why are you in Colombia this morning?” This prompted an irritated McCain to reply, “Well, I’d be glad to repeat myself.”
Pitiful. So, just to summarize:
When John McCain goes abroad, the mainstream media stays State-side, practically ignores the story, or asks (several times in a two minute period), What the hell are you doing galavanting around the globe when our country is falling to pieces!?
When Barack Obama goes abroad, his media sycophants go, “Wait! Take us with you!”. It’s a top story. The Larry, Curly, and Moe of netwok news follow him around like puppies, and basically the networks provide the Democrat candidate with free campaign commercials disguised as objective news reporting.
A clever graphic posted on Michelle Malkin’s blog illustrates the situation even better:
As the Brutally Honest blog says, this should make a great T-shirt.
Stay classy, nets.

I dont like McCain's politics either but there is no choice. I am a conservative and he's 50/50.

Obama's campaign money spending is good for the economy. He should spend all of it. He should not keep some of it as a hedge for his future as a pathetic loser in the presidential elections. Good thinking americans will definitely ignore an activist who hates America before the democrats put him up as a saintly candidate for president. America is really a free country. Anyone born in the USA can run for President.

Is it fair that the media treats McCain like old news and Obama as a superstar? From a fairness perspective, of course not. But the Republicans knew what they were getting with John McCain: a soft-spoken, low-key aw-shucks kind of politician. He's not going to get anyone excited about this election. They played it safe, and you can't entirely blame the media for treating him with a big yawn.
No matter what you think of Obama's politics, competence, or personality, you cannot deny he's a political superstar. He's been a superstar since the '04 DNC. So I can't blame the media for fawning over a new and (superficially) exciting face on the political scene. They're trying to reel in viewers, and like it or not, coverage of McCain's visit to Columbia isn't going to do it.
